Brannmann Simensen goes racing!

Best pal Vemund let his original firebus loose on the tracks of Gardermoen International Raceway today, at the SCC race n' show (www.sccevent.com). Check out the video... not the fastest bus in the world, but oh what fun! (stock 1600 dualport engine, and stock transmission).

Edit: added the last run today, it's also the fastest at 23,5.

Rear brakes overhauled

Changed/cleaned rear brakes and oilseals. There had been a leak of transmission oil, so everything smelled like sh...! And with four new tyres the car is as safe as it can be :)

Windows back into the car

Last night we installed the last of the windows into the car. Sadly we broke some of the rubber seals, but they'll do the trick for now. Today I'll have a go at the electrics... lights, wipers etg.

Run for the finishing line

Putting the car together again is what it's all about... with luck it's ready for VW Internationals this weekend. But to achieve that goal, it'll have to pass a EU periodic test to get the license plates back on.

The paintjob is finished!

Late last night I layed the final layer of topcoat on the squareback. Finally :) Monday I got some running in the primer, so we had to rub that out before the final stage.

As this was my first time as a painter, it wasn't realy a surprise that things like this happened. Luckily, I had learned before the topcoat... so there I got just one little running on a door (how I did manage that, I don't understand). But that is something we can take care of later.

And the painter himself:

Today: filler

The first layer of primer revealed some spots that needed more work. So I sprayed some filler today. After sanding the body should be ready for the final layers.

Here's some pics of Vemund's earlybay... with "new" rear bumper and camping interior:

First shot of primer

Just finished to shoot the first layer of primer. It was also my first time using a spraygun, so I'm excited to see the result tomorrow. There were to much fumes and primer in the air, and the primer hadn't dried when I left, so I couldn't see the result tonight.
